This award celebrates the contributions of the administration within a faculty of medicine where efforts and work have contributed to national discourse and the betterment of Canadian Academic Medicine. The award is aimed at celebrating and showcasing the contributions of non-academic, administrative staff in a Canadian medical school.

2015 Training for Health Equity Network (THEnet)

The AFMC Clinical Teacher Award recognizes excellence in clinical teaching by an individual faculty member in a Faculty of Medicine in Canada. Nominations are open to clinician-scientists who are licensed healthcare practitioners at a Canadian medical or health science faculty.

The Indigenous Health Advocacy Award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding efforts of an Indigenous person in medical education and/or health research who has worked to improve the health of Indigenous Peoples situated in Canada. This award recognizes the outstanding dedication of an individual towards the dismantling of anti-Indigenous racism and the advancement of cultural safety, advocacy, health equity and wellness of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people. Nominations are open to Indigenous, faculty members, staff members, and, or practicing physicians.

Innovation in pedagogy (e.g., curriculum, assessment, teaching and learning).
Innovation in knowledge generation (e.g., new approaches to questions, challenges and/or methodologies).
Innovation in translating knowledge into practice (e.g., innovation in translating knowledge into practice)

The AFMC Mentorship Award recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates an exemplary and sustained commitment to providing outstanding mentorship, guidance, and inspiration to colleagues within Canadian faculties of medicine. This award acknowledges the time mentors dedicate to provide guidance for career development in clinical work, teaching, education, research, leadership, and advocacy. The dedication of faculty mentors fosters the career development and academic success of their colleagues. This award also recognizes the altruistic nature of mentoring. Exceptional faculty clinicians or health researchers with an MD or another health professional degree who has demonstrated through dedicated service, a substantial contribution to mentorship within their faculty of medicine, are eligible.

Nominees should have achieved pre-eminence in medical education, biomedical or health services research.
